Steve Baker Earns MTM Transit’s November ZAP Manager of the Month Award

MTM Transit is excited to introduce our latest ZAP Manager of the Month: Steve Baker, the General Manager of our Sumter County, Florida operations! Steve earned the award for the month of November 2020.

Every month, our safety mascot ZAP Man recognizes our ZAP Manager of the Month. The Manager chosen for the honor is an MTM Transit leader who embodies our safety initiatives and shows a strong commitment to safety in all facets of their job. Every leader chosen for the recognition reflects the value behind ZAP: our Zero Accident Philosophy.

“No matter the situation, Steve continually provides strong safety support to his employees through creative safety initiatives,” said MTM Transit’s Director of Safety Administration Tom Greufe. “Working hand-in-hand with his Road Supervisor David Smith, he communicates safety messages daily to his employees using creativity and innovation to cultivate a culture of safety awareness.”

One example of Steve’s creativity? The fun costumes he has worn to promote safety with his employees and get a good chuckle from them in the process. From becoming Star Wars‘ Darth Vadar, to a Minion from Despicable Me, to a Thanksgiving turkey, he always has something up his sleeve–and he’s promising yet another new look for the 2020 holiday season!

Congratulations Steve! Thank you for always working closely with your team to support their safety needs, make safety visible throughout your facility, and communicate safety over radio messages and safety signage!
