We’re excited to announce that the next generation of MTM Transit’s Executive Safety Committee has officially kicked off. Part of our response to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA)’s Safety Management System (SMS), we created our Executive Safety Committee to achieve four goals:
- Bring management and labor together to better control risk
- Detect and correct potential safety problems earlier
- Share and analyze safety data more effectively
- Measure safety performance more precisely
During the inaugural meeting, the team developed their initial plans to tackle safety head on. With organization being key, the team broke down take-a-ways and created plans that enforce the regular sharing and posting of safety-related documents. Each team member expressed their own goals, such as building a safety culture and mindset, using creativity to keep safety fun, and increasing overall safety awareness throughout the entire organization.
Every month, the team will come together to organize safety trainings, competitions, and games and develop a concrete theme for the month. We’re excited to announce that this month’s theme is: “Wanting to do what is right and safe instead of having to do what is right and safe.”
