At the 2022 Florida CTD (Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged) Awards Banquet, MTM Transit’s Sebring, Florida team was nominated for three awards–and was proud to be named the winner of all three!
Every year, the CTD recognizes individuals and organizations within the community that exhibit exceptional service, personal excellence, and dedication towards serving people who are transportation disadvantaged. These elected officials, organizations, agencies, and individuals reach for excellence in serving Florida communities by ensuring Floridians have transportation to medical facilities, educational facilities, nutritional opportunities, and life-sustaining treatments.
The CTD Awards Banquet is hosted annually during the organization’s Training Workshop & Expo, and honors Florida transportation systems and professionals who go above and beyond to create an incredible passenger experience. Winners are selected by CTD members based upon criteria such as customer service, commitment to accessibility, safety, on-time performance, and more. Our Sebring team was honored to be nominated and win the following awards:
- Rural Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC) of the Year: MTM Transit serves as the CTC in the Sebring/South Central Florida area, managing rural transportation for four counties. Over the past year, the team faced many challenges around funding and staffing, but overcame those challenges under the guidance of General Manager Kelly Brooks. In recognition of their efforts, MTM Transit was named the state’s top Rural CTC for 2022.
- Operator of the Year: In Sebring, MTM Transit works with Safety Transportation to operate a portion of the community’s transportation service. Safety Transportation was honored for their excellence as the 2022 Operator of the Year! In January of 2022, another vendor exited their contract with MTM Transit with 24 hours’ notice. Safety Transportation stepped up and doubled their role overnight, hiring drivers, transitioning vehicles and insurance, and learning an expanded service area. Owned and operated by Crystal Oliveros, Safety Transportation is a family-operated business based in West Palm Beach. Congratulations to Safety Transportation, and thank you for your partnership with MTM Transit!
- Sheila Winitzer Shining Star Award: We are proud to announce that our Sebring General Manager Kelly Brooks was honored with the Shining Star Award! Kelly embodies all of the qualities the CTD looks for when they honor transportation professionals. Kelly started her transit career as a dispatcher/clerk more than 20 years ago. She was promoted to General Manager for Sebring’s prior vendor, then transitioned to MTM Transit when we were awarded the contract in July of 2021. “Kelly is compassionate, patient, and truly cares about the riders that rely upon the service that we provide every day,” said MTM Transit’s Regional Vice President Ed Overn. “I could not be prouder of her for this well-deserved award, and truly thank her for what she and her team do day in and day out.”
